OUR NEW DAILY LIFE IN SWEDEN
IN THE ALASKAN MALAMUTE KENNEL
OF CATHI'S MEADOW GARDEN
Take an extensive look at our dog breeding and mushing kennel in the Swedish Lappland and find out why we have chosen to venture into the natural habitat of our Alaskan Malamutes.
New Routines
more 'horse' power, more space
While in the German Black Forest we were still rather limited to Bikejöring, trike and cart, we are now hugely excited about the addition of our quad.
It will be a lot louder, but since we don't have any direct neighbors here in Västernorrlands län - as is the case with our German kennel - no one will be bothered by the engine noise, nor by the howling of wolves at night: because here on the edge of Lapland, all our Malamutes stay happily outdoors, even overnight.
The usual noise level from the everyday life of any musher is well known here and somewhat characteristic for this area.
New Activities
more snow, more wild life
While over the last few years it has become increasingly clear that training on dog sleds will probably become less and less in southern Germany, we are looking forward to the coming snow seasons in Middle Sweden with great anticipation.
There is a reason that we are committed to this breed of sled dogs, and we strive to live up to the standards of this Nordic working breed.
Sightings of bears and moose replace the contact with fellow dogs at the dog school in the German Neckar Valley - but also our 'Gulsele wolverine' has had to learn already that neighbor's chickens are now under the care of our Malamute pack.
New Events
more variety, more water
While we used to take our litter on excursions to the open Neckar meadows, where they could race their mother, here, directly on the banks of the Ångermanälven, we have completely new opportunities.
And instead of attending international dog shows in this area, we have so far limited ourselves to day trips to our neighboring countries. However, as official members of the SKK and SPHK, we will of course still go to the Nordic dog shows, the results of which we will always present on our website.
From our past experience we have been able to get in contact with other Malamute breeders at these and other events and exchange information about our dogs and the breed in general, make contacts among like-minded people, gain valuable knowledge and useful Swedish insights and simply enjoy the added value of being a member of a club.
